President Barack Obama has been outspoken that he wants a “clean,” no-strings-attached bill to raise the federal government’s borrowing ability.
But as the date on which the U.S. will hit the current limit approaches and Republican and Democrat legislators start last-minute negotiations, Nick Gillespie lays out three reasons why the only good debt deal is a dirty deal – one that ties any increase in borrowing capacity to specific cuts in future spending.
