GLOBAL PANIC FAILURE OVERLOAD Washington Post: ‘President Obama’s Competence Problem is Worse Than It Looks’

Obama-failure-Overload

Guatemala’s President Otto Perez Molina, left, and Honduran President Juan Hernandez, right, listen as President Obama speaks to the media, after they met on July 25 at the White House to discuss Central American immigration and the border crisis. (AP)

For The Washington PostChris Cillizza writes: You can understand President Obama’s current political problems — and how those problems could make things very tough for his party in this fall’s midterm election — in a single word. And that gpoj-approved-panicword is “competence.”

“Almost six years on from that election, however, Obama is faltering badly on the competence question…”

Obama was elected in 2008 on a stated promise that he would restore competence to government. He pitched himself as the antidote to “Heck of a job, Brownie” and the Bush years, the person who would always put the most qualified candidate in every job in his Administration. That the basic functioning of government would never be in question.

“…and, in so doing, badly imperiling not only his ability to enact any sort of second term agenda but also Democrats’ chances this fall.”

Almost six years on from that election, however, Obama is faltering badly on the competence question and, in so doing, badly imperiling not only his ability to enact any sort of second term agenda but also Democrats’ chances this fall. A series of events — from the VA scandal to the ongoing border crisis to the situation in Ukraine to the NSA spying program — have badly undermined the idea that Obama can effectively manage the government. Victor Davis Hanson’s Disaster Tour: The Turbulent Summer of 2014

Turbulent-summer-2014

The summer when America fell apart

For TownHall & National ReviewVictor Davis Hanson writes: The summer of 2014 will go down in history as the season when America fell apart. Let’s take a tour of the disasters.

When I read that opening sentence, I thought – finally, someone’s on the same page. When we began this ongoing theme  The Global Panic of July 2014 — it was meant as a joke, dark humor to survive the seemingly endless cascade of bad news. But it’s also an amplified recognition of reality; increasing disorder and dysfunction, nationally and internationally. Mixed with breathtaking technological advances, with the promise of more economic disruption to come. From 9/11 until now, we are witnessing a disintegration of the post-war world order. This summer marks even more global instability. Things are unravelling at a faster pace than even my most pessimistic colleagues have suggested. A historic turning point? If so, Victor Davis Hanson‘s an informed tour guide. Read the whole thing here.

Germany in 2008 enthusiastically hosted candidate Barack Obama for his so-called “Victory Column” speech. Now, Germans suddenly sound as if they are near-enemies of the U.S. Chancellor Angela Merkel reportedly was furious that her cell phone was tapped by American intelligence agents.

“Asian powers apparently assume that Obama won’t guarantee the security of the Japanese as America had in the past.”

She just kicked the top CIA official out of Germany, further enraged that the U.S. had recruited at least one German official to provide intelligence on the German government. Polls show that Germans find Vladimir Putin’s Russian tyranny almost as popular as Barack Obama’s America. Read the rest of this entry »

“We must demand that all Arab peoples expel them from their countries, starting with Jordan…I spit on this flag!”

For Breitbart.com,  reports: In a clip posted to YouTube by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Zoher Al-Azzeh burned the flag on Jordan’s 7 Stars TV while also calling for the US embassy in Jordan to be shut down, accusing America of using it as a “centre for spying”.

Our Broadcast Media Unit was on the scene to interview local residents. The only New Yorker willing to go on the record was this lobster, who confirmed “it smells really bad. “

The Associated Press reports – QUEENSBURY, N.Y. –  Some car owners are raising a stink after driving a road littered with meat in upstate New York.

The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports that dozens of chunks of meat were on the road in front of a mall Thursday in Queensbury, about 60 miles north of Albany.
