About

I launched this site as a place to cool off in the noisy weeks leading up to the 2012 Presidential election. Think of it as a frosty, chilly, well-stocked meat locker for opinions, humor, commentary, photos, cartoons, links, and media carnage.

I’m a career media professional inside the Legacy Media Establishment, in a Super-Blue city, in a shimmering Blue state, inside a bubble: a precious urban monoculture that breeds conformity, passivity, and casual intolerance* hostility, bigotry, hatred, batshit crazy eruptions of random violence against those with unapproved views.* Opportunities to participate in rational political discussions on a level playing field are, well…rare.

I began looking for an outlet, a place to analyze news and culture from a different vantage point. From a different planet, so to speak.

Our contributing editor, an American stationed abroad, was asked by curious international business associates to comment on current events in the U.S., referring to him as their “pundit-from-another-planet”. As he described his outsider-insider situation, the phrase lingered. At the end of our conversation I told him I would steal it, build it into a News Empire, and invite him to contribute. That day has arrived.

She hated the idea that meaning was subjective…
She said, “if nature abhors a vacuum, then fill it up!”
    I asked her, “With what?”
    […]
After a while she replied, “With chatter”
    […]
Another long pause and then she added, “You know, the Morpheus molecule of metaphor.”

She left before I could get her number. I thought I might find her on this planet…
