With No Public Vote, Inglewood City Council Votes Unanimously to Approve a Plan for an 80-Thousand Seat NFL Stadium at Hollywood Park

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — The Inglewood City Council on Tuesday night approved plans to build a proposed NFL stadium in the Los Angeles area that includes St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke as a partner.

With a 5-0 vote, the council approved the $2 billion plan at a meeting Tuesday night.

The vote fast-tracks construction by allowing the city to avoid a public vote and long environmental review, and clears a path for a return of the NFL to the area for the first time in more than 20 years.

The project now depends on the partnership seeking to build a stadium on the site of the former Hollywood Park horse track and on the NFL, which has emphasized that any decision to return to the LA-area ultimately lies with the league.

Looking For Love In All The Wrong Places

Unknown

Two people have been arrested of running a sex scam where they would lure victims to hotel rooms and then rob them.

Authorities believe Christopher Herrera, 27, of Bell Gardens, and Sandy Cacero, 24, of La Palma, along with other women, may be responsible for additional robberies.

On Wednesday, Herrera and Cacero allegedly assaulted and pepper sprayed a victim they contacted on Backpage.com, which advertises escort services, at a Best Western Hotel in the 24200 block of Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point.

They then stole the victim’s cash, phone and tablet before fleeing in a white 2013 Nissan Maxima with the license plate 6XCC446.

Orange County sheriff’s deputies arrested Cacero and Herrera the same day.

“The women get there, then the male suspect shows up and robs the victim,” Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. Read the rest of this entry »

358644_630x354

In 2012, Pfeifer, 32, was arrested in France last December after violating custody orders that she return with her sons.

“The safety of the two sons that are at issue in this case was my primary concern.”

— Prosecutor Deanne Castorena

LOS ANGELES (KABC)  reports: A mother accused of keeping her two young sons from their fathers has escaped jail time. Maria Pfeifer was the subject of an international manhunt for violating custody orders and failing to return from vacation in Europe.

“For us, for the defense team, the big result was she’s not serving a day in jail on this case.”

— Pfeifer’s attorneys

On Monday, Pfeifer, a former Los Angeles resident, was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay restitution.

[See ABC7 VIDEO ‘s report here]

Prosecutors says Pfeifer plead guilty to one felony count of custody deprivation. The sentence imposed Monday allows for Pfeifer, who is nine months pregnant, to travel out of the country. Read the rest of this entry »

Entreprenuer Offers President Obama a Job With His Startup After He Leaves Office

editor-commen-deskWe’ve got our man Robert Holguin on assignment in Santa Monica covering the president’s Town Hall appearance. So we’re reserving an Arturo Fuente Hemingway Signature Camaroon Perfecto cigar in our company humidor for him, and sending him a set of monogrammed collar stays. Good work, man.
