The consulate and its intelligence operation nearby was keeping an eye on weapons transfers to anti-Assad forces in Syria, one of the proposed reasons why the US would have kept a consulate open in that city for so long.
Thanks to Judicial Watch obtaining new memos, Fox News is now reporting that the Obama administration knew that Benghazi was being used as a hub for the transfer of lethal weapons to Syria back in 2012. Former CIA Deputy Director Mike Morell suggested to Bret Baier that the CIA wasn’t doing the transferring, but was watching someone else do it.
…The date of the DIA conclusion (produced by a FOIA lawsuit from Judicial Watch) is remarkable for at least one reason. First, September 16 is an infamous date in the Benghazi timeline, as the date on which Susan Rice did a full Ginsburg to insist that the attack resulted from a spontaneous demonstration tied to an obscure YouTube video.
“The consulate and its intelligence operation nearby was keeping an eye on weapons transfers to anti-Assad forces in Syria, one of the proposed reasons why the US would have kept a consulate open in that city for so long.”
Even though the DIA directly contradicted those talking points supplied by the White House to Rice, they continued to insist on using them for another two weeks, including Hillary Clinton. During that period, the Obama administration kept saying that they had no indication that this was a terrorist plot, even though the president of Libya insisted that it was a planned attack on one of the same shows on which Rice appeared.
“Why keep up the pretense? Obama was in the middle of an election, and didn’t want to acknowledge that he’d been caught with his pants down.”
As Catherine Herridge and Martha McCallum point out, the memo tells a lot more of the story than we knew before. The consulate and its intelligence operation nearby was keeping an eye on weapons transfers to anti-Assad forces in Syria, one of the proposed reasons why the US would have kept a consulate open in that city for so long. “Where is she? First, they put out their stooges to go out and defend them; then their daughter, then the husband. She’s sort of hiding in the bunker.”
But those proxies are not working out. The Clinton campaign had to “throw [Bill] under the bus,” Krauthammer noted, following a less-than-encouraging interview with NBC over the weekend. “ ‘Well, it’s just him,’ [says the campaign.] Well, it may be just him, but the name of the Foundation is Hillary and Bill and Chelsea.”
“The one thing that impresses me. You mentioned how no Democrats are coming out. The numbers in the Wall Street Journal poll are very telling. Democrats are hanging onto Hillary. Those numbers are stable. They are all in either because they believe in her, or they know that they’ve got no choice — this is it.”

[VIDEO] Dr. Charles Krauthammer: Obama Administration ‘Will Not Let the Facts Stand in the Way’ of a Deal with IranPosted: April 21, 2015
From The Corner,
On Tuesday’s Special Report, Charles Krauthammer said the Obama administration misled the American people about the estimated time the administration thought Iran would need to obtain nuclear weapons.
“This is an administration that is determined to get a deal and will not let the facts stand in the way.”
“The only explanation, the best explanation surely, is they were deliberately deceiving the American people—and the Congress, of course—because they [the Obama administration] knew they [Iran] were only few months a way and pretended otherwise,” Krauthammer said…(read more)

On Monday’s Special Report, Charles Krauthammer said the problem with the Obama administration’s deal with Iran is that it no longer requires Iran to end its nuclear program, as the U.S. had originally intended.
“The problem with deal is really a fundamental one, apart from all of the details. The highway to a bomb is right there and that’s the problem, the fundamental issue with the deal—Obama changed the entire idea.”
Los Angeles (AFP) – American Amanda Knox expressed “tremendous” relief Friday after Italy’s top court cleared her of the 2007 murder of British student Meredith Kercher, drawing a line under the eight-year legal saga.
“I am tremendously relieved and grateful for the decision of the Supreme Court of Italy,” Knox said in a statement shortly after Italy’s Court of Cassation cleared her and Italian ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito.
“I am tremendously relieved and grateful for the decision of the Supreme Court of Italy.”
Knox, convicted with Sollecito for a second time last year for taking part in the brutal knife slaying of Kercher, has always vehemently maintained her innocence.

[VIDEO] Dr. Charles Krauthammer: Mr. President: Republicans Don’t Oppose Diplomacy, They Oppose Your Bad DealPosted: March 21, 2015
From The Corner:
President Obama claims that Republicans are not interested in “a diplomatic resolution” to America’s long-standing conflict with Iran. “This is the president’s mendacity continuing to a degree that is really quite remarkable,” says Charles Krauthammer.
“‘There are people on both sides and beyond’ — so he means Republicans at home and Israelis – ‘who are against a diplomatic resolution. That’s a lie“
“‘There are people on both sides and beyond’ — so he means Republicans at home and Israelis – ‘who are against a diplomatic resolution,’” said Krauthammer on Friday’s Special Report, quoting the president’s comments in a video message in honor of Nowruz, the Iranian New Year, released Friday. “That’s a lie.
“They are against THIS diplomatic resolution…”
They are against this diplomatic resolution, the deal he is doing that any observer will tell you paves the road to an Iranian nuclear weapon that is legitimate and accepted by the international community. It is a disaster. That’s why it is opposed. People aren’t opposed to diplomacy; they are opposed to a specific deal.”

On Thursday’s Special Report, Charles Krauthammer said he thinks the stories surrounding Hillary Clinton’s exclusive use of a private e-mail account and a secret server will not go away. He added that Clinton could be in serious legal trouble, depending on how she responded to a “separation” form that federal officials must sign upon leaving a department.
“If she signed it [the form], it’s perjury; if she didn’t, then she left with government documents, which is illegal,” Krauthammer said….(read more)
“…if she has such a press conference, she will be asked, ‘You turned over 55,000 e-mails. How many are left on your server?’ She will either say, ‘I don’t know’ or ‘I’ll get back to you,’ and then she is going to have to answer, ‘Why don’t you turn them over?’, to which there is no answer.”
Said Charles Krauthammer, on Thursday’s Special Report.
“Of course, the answer, is ’Because I want to hide them, I want to sift them, I want to make sure the ones that are incriminating are kept back.’ She can’t do it because the answers to the questions, if remotely honest, are self-indicting.”
On Tuesday’s Special Report, Charles Krauthammer said the United States’ ongoing negotiations with Iran are misguided and make President Obama’s other foreign policy blunders look favorable by comparison.
“It is an unbelievably bad deal. It makes the Cuba deal look like a really good bargain.”
“This [deal] will mean a lifting of the sanctions, so Iran will be with a very strong economy, undeterred, nothing in any way holding it back; it’s simply catastrophic…”(read more)
Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer cautioned the Arab nation of Jordan against overreacting after the Islamic State burned one of its military pilots alive, warning they could be playing right into the Islamists’ hands.
“This is a way to stir the cauldron in a country that is stable, was stable, but is easily destabilized. And that’s what ISIS is after.”
But Krauthammer disagreed, saying he believes the Islamic State is trying to ”destabilize its neighbors” by deliberately drawing the fragile Arab nation into a costly land war in Syria…(read more)

BREAKING: Police official: Suspects in Charlie Hebdo massacre killed, hostage freed.
— The Associated Press (@AP) January 9, 2015
— AFP Photo Department (@AFPphoto) January 9, 2015
French police said Friday that a gunman who had been holding at least five hostages in a kosher market in eastern Paris was dead, CBS News correspondent Elizabeth Palmer reports.
French media reported that as many as 10 people ran out of the market after explosions and gunfire were heard near the market.
Earlier, the gunman threatened to kill the hostages if police launched an assault on the cornered brothers suspected in the massacre, a police official told The Associated Press.
Less than an hour after the gunman made his threat, gunfire was heard at the location of the standoff involving the brothers around the town of Dammartin-en-Goële, about 25 miles northeast of Paris.
The police official told the AP several people had been wounded when the gunman opened fire in the market near Paris’ Porte de Vincennes Friday afternoon and were able to flee and get medical care.
Earlier, a police official told the AP that the man declared “you know who I am” when he opened fire.
An Interior Ministry spokesman told RTL-TV that police believe five individuals were taken hostage, possibly including a child. A police union source told the Reuters news organization that one person was seriously wounded.
Paris police believe the suspect is Amedy Coulibaly, 32. Police are seeking information on him and his girlfriend, Hayat Boumeddienne, 26, in connection with the deadly shooting of a police officer on Thursday morning just south of the capital in Montrouge. Both were suspected of being armed and dangerous.
French President Francois Hollande ordered the country’s top security official to the scene of the market, an official in the presidency told The Associated Press. The police official declined to be named when discussing the unfolding situation. Read the rest of this entry »
“Abroad, in the vacuum that we created by Obama’s retreat, more aggressive, more wicked, in fact some of the worst people on earth have filled it in Libya, in Syria, in Iraq. Putin’s on the march in eastern Europe. Everybody senses America is not there.”
From The Corner, a clip from this evening’s Special Report. Harsh words from long-time Washington D.C. insider Dr. Krauthammer:
“Domestically, the great idea of expansion of government and new entitlements and all this — this is a crisis of competence. The IRS, the VA, the Secret Service… all of these agencies that we had trust in, under this administration are showing how badly government is run.”
There “is a sense in the country,” says Charles Krauthammer, “that we have a presidency that is falling apart” — call it a “crisis of competence.”

On Special Report, the panelist explained how chaos abroad and at home — much of it caused by the decisions of the current administration — is giving Americans reason to worry.
“You combine them, and you get a sense that things are out of control.”
“Here’s a man who comes into office and denies the existence of a war on terror.”
“And what do we see?” Krauthammer then proceeded to list attacks by Islamic jihadists in Somalia, Nigeria, Niger, Libya, Yemen, and, of course, Syria and Iraq. “It’s everywhere.”
“Obama persists in calling them ‘extremists.’ As if they are extremists for — what reason?”

From The Corner: On Thursday’s Special Report, Charles Krauthammer reacted to President Obama’s statement, “I don’t want to put the cart before the horse—we don’t have a strategy yet,” about the United States’ effort against the Islamic State. Krauthammer said he was shocked by Obama’s statement, especially considering the context in which the comment was made.
“Look I thought that the president could no longer surprise me,” Krauthammer said. “I was wrong. He shocked me today. The President of the United States, in the middle of a real crisis, a few days after the beheading of an American, deliberately sort of spitting in the face of the country and demonstrating his cruelty, the president gets in front of the world and says, ‘I don’t have a strategy.'”

On Wednesday’s Special Report, Charles Krauthammer said that Democrats will come to rue their response to President Obama’s executive overreach…
“The president’s job is not, as the president says, to help people — that’s his interpretation of what he does — it’s to faithfully execute the laws that Congress has passed. That is as clear as day. That’s the definition of his job.”
[VIDEO] Krauthammer Closes the Lid: Gruber Video Is ‘Absolute Proof’ that Provision Was Not a Drafting ErrorPosted: July 25, 2014
“This is truly devastating.”
Charles Krauthammer thinks that a two-year-old video of one of Obama’s chief architects is proof that the denial of subsidies through federal exchanges was not a drafting error…
“This is absolute proof…It was a deliberate political strategy by the Democrats in drafting the law.”
…It is not the role “of any court to overturn an obvious provision in a law, simply because the strategy of those who drafted it didn’t succeed.”(read more)

“This is clearly an attempt of the administration to try to handle a problem by concealing it from the people who most have to know–meaning the governors, the mayors, and the American people.”
Krauthammer continued on to explain that the administration is intentionally hiding the border problem from those who most need to be made aware…(read more) The Corner
[VIDEO] The Hammer: End of Emergency Benefits = Sharp Drop in Unemployment: ‘Conservatives Won the Debate’Posted: July 4, 2014
“These six months coincide with a decrease in the medium length of unemployment from 17 weeks to 13 weeks — the largest six-month decline in the length of unemployment ever measured…”
While liberals hail new job numbers as a vindication of President Obama’s economic policies, it is conservatives who should feel vindicated, said Charles Krauthammer…
Which means the real problem of long-term unemployment was a function of this anomaly of emergency-extended unemployment, which should never have happened…”
Citing a recent National Review Online post on The Corner by economist Robert Stein, Krauthammer noted that the sharp drop in unemployment has coincided with the end of emergency unemployment benefits.
“The debate on that extension is over, and the conservatives were right.”
Obama and the Democrats, who insisted that the benefits be extended, wrongly predicted that their expiration would come as a calamity to the poor. Instead, their end has demonstrably had “precisely the opposite effect.”(read more) National Review Online
“We originally had the admission and now the administration is pretending — there never was in the first place, there is no story, and it’s a sideshow…”
Soon after news broke that the IRS was improperly targeting conservative groups, President Obama said such actions are “outrageous” and that “there’s no place for” such behavior. Nine months later, the night before the Super Bowl this Feburary, he said there was “not even a smidgeon of corruption” in the agency.
“That’s a farce”
Charles Krauthammer said on Special Report tonight….
“It is a scandal,” Krauthammer said, “that of all the ten thousand lawyers who work in the Department of Justice they have to pick one who is a contributor to Barack Obama.”
David Wildstein, the Port Authority official who oversaw the George Washington Bridge lane closures, wrote in a letter today that Governor Chris Christie knew about the closures when they were happening.
“So what if he knew?” Charles Krauthammer asked on tonight’s Special Report.
“…Everyone in New Jersey knew. It was on the news.”
What matters is not whether Christie knew about the closures, but whether he ordered the closures, Krauthammer said. “There’s nothing in the letter that says that Christie had knowledge of how and why, or that he gave the order, or that he knew that the order had come out of his office,” Krauthammer said.
“Here we are, two days before the Super Bowl, in New Jersey, first time…the lawyer releases the letter precisely on the eve of the big day to ruin him.”
Conservatives can make a case for “women’s issues” if they avoid incendiary topics like “the psychology of women’s sexuality,” said Charles Krauthammer. “For god’s sake, why do you have to talk about that?” he said on Friday’s Special Report, referring to Huckabee’s remarks earlier in the week…
Charles Krauthammer praised the president’s NSA speech as the “best use of Obama’s rhetorical powers of dazzling with very little content since the ‘08 campaign.”
On Friday night’s Special Report, Krauthammer characterized President Obama’s reforms to the United States’ surveillance as
“90 percent smoke and mirrors, and very little substantive change, which is what we need.”
A male suspect walked inside the theater at 6333 Wesley Grove Boulevard and opened fire, police said, a local television station reported.
Two victims, a man and a woman, were flown to a Tampa area hospital. Their conditions were not available.
The suspect was arrested inside the theater.
As Anchorman 2, the long-awaited sequel to 2004’s Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, hits theaters, it’s worth pointing out Will Ferrell’s fake newscaster is not just wildly entertaining but hugely instructive in our media-soaked age.
Here are three reasons why Anchorman 2 is already the most important movie of the year.
1. It Foregrounds Media Cliches and Pat Formulas.
When Ron Burgundy and team create ridiculous, over-the-top news features such as “Rip the Lid Off It!,” it’s impossible to ever take a special report or interruption for breaking news uncritically ever again.
2. It (de)humanizes the Production of “News.”
By calling attention to the actual production process of “news” and the often-considerable limitations of the people who make media, the Anchorman franchise underscores that news is invented, not discovered.
America’s Pacific Allies Right to Worry
Charles Krauthammer had harsh words Wednesday night for American foreign policy when it came to China’s establishment of a zone of control over the East China Sea.
“We had one strong response, which was to send American warplanes into that zone without obeying the Chinese demand that you check in with them”
Krauthammer said on Special Report, lauding the pair of B-52 bombers that flew through the airspace. However, he lamented that the U.S. has ordered its civilian airlines to comply with the Chinese rules even as Japan has told its airlines to ignore them.
In a surprise move, controversial commentator Martin Bashir has been tapped to lead NBC in 2014 as the network’s new President. “I couldn’t be happier”, said Bashir, “I think as a news organization, we’re on the right track, heading in the right direction. An NBC spokesman confirmed the transition. “We think Martin’s a great choice to bring dynamism and creativity to the network. Supreme Court More Likely to Rule in Against Contraception Mandate in Future Cases
The Supreme Court is more likely to rule in favor of explicitly religious organizations instead of large corporations when it comes to Obamacare’s contraception mandate, Charles Krauthammer said Tuesday night.
Krauthammer predicted on Special Report that after the Supreme Court had dealt with Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby — a case which he said could go either way — cases involving explicitly Catholic organizations stood a better chance of claiming victories over President Obama’s signature healthcare law.
President Obama’s so-called insurance fix is a scam that was meant to deflect blame from the White House, Charles Krauthammer said Friday night.
“He pretended to want to restore the plans to people who lost them,” Krauthammer said during a panel appearance on Special Report. “Because it is a sham. It was only intended to shift the blame. His intent is for these plans not to be renewed; he knows how impossible it will be.”
Krauthammer said that Obama knew how many insurance companies would refuse to renew canceled policies and how many state insurance commissioners would refuse the fix – ensuring that only a trickle of people re-enrolled in their old plans. However, had Obama not made that move, over 100 Democrats would’ve voted for Representative Fred Upton’s (R., Mich.) bill to extend canceled insurance policies a year.
