The incident was reported in the 1300 block of South Waterman Avenue, the Fire Department tweeted shortly before 11:15 a.m.

Three Arrested in Venice Pier Lifeguard Attack

Video of the assault shows the lifeguard climb down from his tower before he was repeatedly hit and knocked to the ground as several passers-by crowded around. The altercation began after someone flicked a lit cigarette into the lifeguard tower, witnesses told police.
At least one man tried to break up the fight as another was heard shouting “police are coming.” Other lifeguards arrived at the scene during the struggle.
Two men and a woman were arrested in connection to the beating, according to Lt. Daniel Gonzalez of LAPD’s Pacific Division.

“It’s just disgusting, really,” said surfer Kim Ternenyi. “It just makes it sad to come here because you’ve got a bunch of silly people doing things that just ruin it for everybody.”

Apocalyptic Nightmare: Big Rig Carrying Chicken Collides With Big Truck Full Of Bees

Melissa Pamer reports: About 7:11 a.m., a 2011 Freightliner carrying a load of chicken struck the rear of a 1991 Volvo in the far right lane of the freeway east of Dillon Road (map), according to the California Highway Patrol office in Indio.
“Bees everywhere.”
The chicken truck had major damage and became engulfed in flames, spilling fuel onto the freeway and barbecuing some of the poultry inside the vehicle’s trailer.
The bees in the other truck escaped and became “aggravated,” Caltrans District 8 spokeswoman Terri Kasinga said in an email.
“Bees everywhere,” stated the CHP’s traffic incident log. Beekeepers were en route from Riverside and Bakersfield, the log said. Read the rest of this entry »

BREAKING: Shots Fired at Apartment Complex in Valley Village California

There was at least one victim in the incident, according to Herrera.
Three officers could be seen carrying what appeared to be a woman’s body out of the complex and into a carport area just after 11 a.m. The woman was placed on a gurney and into an ambulance.

Cleveland Kidnapper Ariel Castro Found Dead in Jail Cell

JoEllen Smith of the Ohio Department of Corrections released the following statement.
Inmate Ariel Castro was found hanging in his cell this evening at 9:20 pm at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient. He was housed in protective custody which means he was in a cell by himself and rounds are required every 30 minutes at staggered intervals. Upon finding inmate Castro, prison medical staff began performing life saving measures. Shortly after he was transported to OSUMC where he was pronounced dead at 10:52 pm. A thorough review of this incident is underway and more information can be provided as it becomes available pending the status of the investigation.
Castro, 52, was sentenced last month to life in prison plus 1,000 years in the abductions of Amanda Berry, Michelle Knight and Gina DeJesus.
