Meet the Biker Hosting the Biggest Pro-Trump Demonstration at the Inauguration

cox05

Chris Cox is the head of ‘Bikers for Trump.’

Chris Cox surveyed a small park near the U.S. Capitol, his German shepherd by his side. Wearing a Harley-Davidson jacket and a crocodile-skin cowboy hat adorned with the animal’s teeth atop his moppy, curly hair, Cox made for a particularly discordant sight in the heart of federal Washington on a misty weekend morning.

But Cox had logistics to sort out, an Inauguration Day demonstration with motorcycle die-hards from across the nation to plan.

The 48-year-old chain-saw artist from South Carolina was an early and enthusiastic supporter of President-elect Donald Trump. Now that his guy has won, Cox wants to ensure that the group he founded, Bikers for Trump, strengthens its political muscle during Trump’s presidency and beyond.

The group obtained a permit for what is expected to be the largest pro-Trump rally held by a private group in the nation’s capital timed to the inauguration. Cox calls the planned event at John Marshall Park a “halftime rally” and said there will be speakers, musical performances and upward of 5,000 bikers in attendance.

As he walked through the park with his dog, Trigger — the massive “Bikers for Trump” patch on the back of his jacket visible from every vantage — Cox began planning where to put the stage, the speakers and the portable toilets.

“Bikers are strongly organized locally,” Cox said. “They just haven’t been organized nationally before.”

Cox launched the organization in October 2015, back when Trump was still running what was considered a quixotic campaign. Since then, he has hosted rallies throughout the country, with his biker group growing to tens of thousands of mostly white men, many of whom are veterans.

During Trump’s own rallies, and at the Republican National Convention, the group has served as a vigilante security force, providing human barricades between supporters and protesters.

When Cox got Trigger a few months ago from the Czech Republic through trades he made with a guy he met at a Trump rally in South Dakota, he joked about naming the new pet Keith Schiller, after the head of security for the Trump Organization.

Ultimately, Cox said, he wants to transform bikers into a distinct voting bloc, akin to the Christian Coalition or Teamsters. His group is composed of members of established groups such as Bikers for Christ and Veteran Bikers MC, and Cox says there are many more unaffiliated “lone wolf” bikers to still bring into the political fray. But the plausibility of creating a unified voting bloc remains to be seen, particularly considering there are at least two other Trump motorcycle events happening in the District around inauguration. Toni Morrison: ‘This is the Conversation’

toni-m-quote

This unarmed white teen was killed by a black officer by means of self defense.

This black women got gang-raped by 4 white men. they all got life sentences. This sentence was given out 6 years before the civil rights movement.

It’s finally over. Racism is over. You have nothing else to complain about now. Racism doesn’t exist anymore…

Applicants must get 6 answers out of 10 in an oral exam to pass the test. According to US Citizenship and Immigration services, 92 percent of applicants pass this test.

You must get 58 or more of these test questions correct in order to pass.

5 things to know about the Gettysburg Address

APGBburgAddress

So where was Lincoln, exactly?

Where in Gettysburg, exactly, did Lincoln actually deliver his Gettysburg Address on Nov. 19, 1863? A prominent, 1912 monument to the speech by the entrance of the town’s National Cemetery leads casual observers to believe it happened there. But look closely: A nearby, vintage plaque says the speech occurred 300 yards away on the spot of another cemetery monument (to fallen soldiers). Except . . . that’s not right, either, modern research has found. The true spot, according to research backed by the National Park Service, lies along the crest of a hill just outside the gates of the cemetery, on the grounds of an older, private cemetery.

Lincoln wasn’t the keynote speaker

The dignitary who spoke before Lincoln, Edward Everett, delivered what was scheduled as the main speech of the day. The former Massachusetts governor and onetime Secretary of State took two hours navigating its 13,607 words.

The speech was really, really short

Lincoln’s speech, a mere 271 words if you use the version that’s attributed to Lincoln, took only two minutes. The New York Times reported of the Gettysburg Address: “It was delivered (or rather read from a sheet of paper which the speaker held in his hand) in a very deliberate manner, with strong emphasis, and with a most business-like air.”

Woman Accused of Paint Vandalism Found Incompetent, Immediately Offered Job in Obama Administration

carneyPresserWASHINGTON — A judge says a woman accused of splattering green paint at the Washington National Cathedral is incompetent to stand trial.

“We keep an eye out for talent”, said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, announcing that Jiamei Tian was being offered a Cabinet position. “We expect the confirmation process to be relatively straightforward”.

Online court records show that a judge Thursday found Jiamei Tian incompetent to stand trial after she was evaluated by a psychologist. A three-page report filed ahead of the hearing concludes that Tian’s overall knowledge of the U.S. legal system “remains rather limited.” The psychologist says it’s likely Tian, who holds a Chinese passport, will be competent to stand trial in the “foreseeable future.”

jiamei-tian-photos-3A previous, preliminary finding had also found Tian incompetent to stand trial.

Tian was charged in July with defacing the Washington National Cathedral with green paint and suspected of similar vandalism at the Lincoln Memorial and other sites. A further hearing is scheduled for Dec. 3.

History: Monuments and memorials remained open during previous shutdown

lincolnmemorial1995

Charles C. Johnson reports: Although President Obama claims that he can’t avoid shutting down public sites and monuments, war memorials were in fact kept open during the 1995/1996 government shutdowns.  The administration’s decision to barricade the Lincoln Memorial marks the first time in its history the memorial has been totally off limits to visitors during a shutdown.

The administration has also balked at efforts by non-governmental groups to maintain access to public sites.

But during the Clinton-era shutdown, World War II veterans kept the Pearl Harbor memorial open.

Twitter’s 10 Funniest ‘Pickup Lines’ Inspired by the Government Shutdown

Jenny Erikson writes: So the government is shutting down because apparently nobody in DC can agree about money. Watching the Republicans and Democrats squabble is a bit like watching an old married couple bicker, isn’t it? They’re both set in their ways, each side thinking they’ve already given too much ground …

Too bad this affects all of us. Le sigh. So what’s a citizen to do when the politicians can’t get along? Crack jokes. Because when it’s the choice between laughing and crying, always choose to laugh. And thank goodness we have Twitter, so that funny people can share funny thoughts and keep us entertained while the panda cam is out.

Here are 10 of the best #ShutdownPickupLines:

  • “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven? I hope not because the GOP doesn’t want us to have healthcare.” @dangr
  • “Is that a rising debt limit, or are you just happy to see me?” @jladrae
  • “The library is closing, mind if I check you out instead?” @michot_y
  • “Do you not carry health insurance? Because you’ve got ‘fine’ written all over you.” @Joshthomastn
  • “Hey girl, can I introduce you to my essential personnel?” @Geoff_Holtzman
  • “If I could rearrange the budget, I’d put you and me on the same line item.” @DeliaCabe
  • “Baby, you’ve chained up my heart tighter than the Lincoln Memorial.” @trace501
  • “We could do more than just strip legislation.” @marinakoren
  • “Even before the shutdown over Obamacare, my love for you was always a pre-existing condition.“ @juanlozano70
  • “The only thing nonessential about you are those pants.” @Jbean35
