Two Americas: Obama Administration Embraces Key Provision of GOP Border Security Policy ‘For White House Only’Posted: April 28, 2016
The fence around the White House could undergo a dramatic change with a proposal to double its height and deter jumpers from reaching its grounds.
The proposal, from the U.S. Secret Service and the National Park Service, would heighten the fence from about seven feet to nearly 14 feet. Nicole Mainor, a spokeswoman for the Secret Service, said plans include installing a new fence that promises to be “tougher, taller and stronger.”
Officials of the two agencies presented their initial concepts last week to the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts. The changes would require the approval of the Fine Arts Commission and the National Capital Planning Commission.
The initial reaction from the Fine Arts Commission was that members were pleased with the proposal but want to look at the design, the street view and the historical context, said Thomas E. Luebke, secretary of the Fine Arts Commission.
“It would be a big change in scale, for sure,” he said. “It practically doubles the size. The big question is, how will it look?’ You have to consider how far can you push security and have it look good.”
Officials stressed that any changes are far off and construction would not likely start until 2018. No decisions are expected until summer or early fall.
The proposal also calls for putting security sensors along parts of the new fence and increasing the height of the gate where vehicles enter the White House grounds from 8 feet to about 13 feet. Read the rest of this entry »
Bradford Richardson reports: The White House was locked down on Thursday afternoon when an intruder jumped the fence, according to the Secret Service.
The jumper, identified as Joseph Caputo, was immediately detained.
The first family was reportedly celebrating Thanksgiving inside the mansion when the incident occurred, at 2:45 p.m.

“What would make you more nervous, riding on the motorcycle with me or having sex with me?”
— Secret Service agent, in one of the text messages
Delaware State Police reportedly caught the agent in a sting operation, after he allegedly sent several messages to an officer posing as a young girl.
The incident is the latest black eye for the Secret Service, whose reputation has been marred over the past two years by a series of scandals involving agent misconduct.
The agent requested meetings and sexual encounters with the state trooper who was posing as the girl. Read the rest of this entry »
The Appetite that Made Matt Drudge Famous: Bill Clinton’s ‘Blonde, Busty Mistress’ Sensationalized in Controversial New BookPosted: July 29, 2015
Oliver Darcy reports: Ronald Kessler, a former investigative journalist at the Washington Post, writes in “The First Family Detail: Secret Service Agents Reveal the Hidden Lives of the Presidents” about the alleged affair.
“He has a blonde, busty mistress, and she’s been code named Energizer by agents. This is unofficially, but that is what they call her…She comes in to the Chappaqua [New York] home whenever Hillary leaves,” Kessler told Talk Radio 1210 WPHT.
“The details coordinate to make sure they don’t cross paths. She, unlike Hillary, is very nice to the agents. She’ll bring cookies.”
In the book’s official Amazon description, it says that the woman “shows up to be with Bill every day while the likely future presidential candidate is away.”
“Agents say that it’s a business relationship,” he told the talk radio station. “It’s not a marriage at all.”
“It’s a total fake, like everything else about Hillary,” Kessler added. “It’s just a big show and a scam.” Read the rest of this entry »
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Grassley is calling for a zero-tolerance policy on soliciting prostitutes.
Congress is finally using protection after several embarrassing stories about very sexually active federal law enforcement agencies.
“The majority of federal law enforcement agents serve our nation honorably and bravely. However, in recent years there have been some episodes of agents gone wild, which raise serious concerns about the culture at federal law enforcement agencies, most notably at the Secret Service and Drug Enforcement Administration.”
— House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte
The Department of Justice issued a memo Friday to all justice department employees telling them not to solicit prostitutes even if they are in a country where it is legal, but Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley is saying it isn’t enough.
Grassley is calling for a zero-tolerance policy on soliciting prostitutes.
“There is no place in the federal government for employees who purchase sex,” Grassley said in a statement Monday. “This memo itself says that such activity ‘creates a greater demand for human trafficking,’ but fails to impose a sufficiently serious policy that would deter employees from engaging in this practice. The memo is a good first step, but more needs to be done.”
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte will hold a hearing Wednesday entitled “Analyzing Misconduct in Federal Law Enforcement” to get to the bottom of all the problems surrounding the Justice Department, particularly it’s employees high libido. Read the rest of this entry »
[VIDEO] House Committee: Two Secret Service Agents Shown Driving Through an Active Bomb Threat Scene After DrinkingPosted: March 24, 2015
Despite the Secret Service’s refusal to provide video of the incident, House Oversight Committee chairman Jason Chaffetz (R, Ut.) released an alternate video showing two agents driving through an active bomb threat scene after drinking, knocking over a barricade in the process.
“…Two agents suspected of being intoxicated drove through the scene, knocking over a protective barrel and passing their vehicle’s wheels within feet of the possible bomb…”
Chaffetz and his fellow lawmakers excoriated Secret Service head Joseph Clancy during a hearing on Tuesday, accusing him of trying to cover up embarrassing details of an incident that occurred outside the White House earlier this month.
On the evening of March 4, a woman dropped a package she claimed was a bomb near the White House and fled the scene. The Secret Service first bungled the response, treating it merely as a suspicious package instead of a verified bomb threat. Read the rest of this entry »
…It’s Not Because of Her E-mails
Aaron Blake reports: Hillary Clinton’s image is worse than at any point since 2008. That’s the big takeaway from a new CNN/Opinion Research poll released late Monday. And it’s true; 44 percent now have an unfavorable opinion of her — the highest that has been since June 2008, shortly after Clinton conceded the Democratic nomination to Barack Obama.
The new poll also has the distinction of having come just as Clinton’s use of a private e-mail account during her time as secretary of state is at issue. Ipso facto, her e-mail controversy is the cause of her flagging numbers, right?
While these two events are temporally aligned, there is little reason to believe the e-mails have really moved numbers that much. Not only is the change from CNN’s polling not statistically significant from two polls last year, it’s also part of a long-term trend. Clinton’s numbers have been declining for some time, and the shift in the latest poll is very much in line with what we would expect.
Here’s how the steady progression looks:
The second number that people focused on in the new poll is the “honest and trustworthy” number. While 56 percent of people described Clinton thusly one year ago, it’s down to 50 percent today. Read the rest of this entry »
The Secret Service is investigating two senior agents after a car crash at the White House complex
Secret Service spokesman Robert Hoback says recently appointed Director Joseph Clancy has been briefed on the March 4 incident. The investigation has been turned over to the Homeland Security Department’s Inspector General’s office.
Hoback did not provide additional details.
The agency says the two agents have been reassigned to non-supervisory, non-operational jobs. Read the rest of this entry »
In an interview with Bloomberg TV on Friday, the top Obama advisor was asked if she ever received an email from Clinton – which would have appeared without the appropriate State.gov address — while the former secretary was part of the administration.

The resignation came less than a day after lawmakers from both parties assailed Ms. Pierson’s leadership and said they feared for the lives of the president and others in the protection of the storied protective agency.
“Under intense questioning on Capitol Hill on Tuesday, Ms. Pierson admitted that those charged with securing the White House failed to follow numerous security protocols, allowing a man armedwith a knife to penetrate deep inside the mansion.”
A 30-year veteran of the Secret Service, Ms. Pierson was supposed to have been the one to repair the agency’s reputation after scandals that raised questions about a culture that gave rise to incidents involving drinking and prostitution during overseas trips. Read the rest of this entry »
[VIDEO] ‘Wish to God You Protected the White House Like You’re Protecting Your Reputation Here Today’Posted: September 30, 2014
“I don’t think the Secret Service is taking their duty to protect the American president and his family at the White House very seriously. That’s exactly my point.”
From The Corner:
Representative Stephen Lynch (D., Mass.) could scarcely contain his scorn for Secret Service director Julia Pierson’s evasive testimony before the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday, saying “I wish to God you protected the White House like you’re protecting your reputation here today.”
“I wish you spent that time and that effort to protect the American president, and his family, like I’m hearing people covering for the lapses of the Secret Service on these several occasions. I really do.”
The Massachusetts lawmaker upbraided Pierson for her agency’s inability to stop one man, armed only with a knife, from jumping a fence and penetrating deep into the White House earlier this month. And he found her repeated justifications for the breach inexcusable.
“I have very low confidence in the Secret Service under your leadership,” he added. “I have to say that.”
“I’ve listened to your testimony very deliberately here this morning,” he said, Read the rest of this entry »
For The Daily Caller, Ariel Cohen reports: At 2:45 p.m. on the Friday before Memorial Day, a man approached the White House security gates, just in time for President Barack Obama’s 3:30 p.m. press announcement.
“I have a 3:00 p.m. meting with Mr. Obama,” he said as he handed the security officers his driver’s license.
“Sir, this is a foreign ID, we need either an American driver’s license, an international license or a passport,” the Secret Service agent replied. ”I’m sorry but you can not enter.”
The man walked away, looking slightly upset. The Secret Service continued going about their usual business of checking reporters’ IDs, including the ID of this Daily Caller reporter, and ushering them through security.
Suddenly, the man began undressing in front of the gate, but no one noticed until he was down to his gray boxer briefs. Read the rest of this entry »
ABC News‘ Ann Compton reports: Three members of an elite counter-assault team were sent home for excessive drinking hours before President Obama was to arrive in Amsterdam, a spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service confirmed to ABC News.
Secret Service personnel on official trips are prohibited from drinking alcohol 10 hours prior to duty. The counter-assault team members were drinking Saturday evening and Sunday morning ahead of a Sunday briefing – a violation of the rule, the spokesman said.
WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 18 months after a prostitution scandal in South America rocked the Secret Service, the agency in charge of protecting the president is investigating another case of suspected sexual misconduct in its ranks.
This time, two supervisory agents assigned to President Barack Obama’s protective detail have been investigated for misconduct involving sexually suggestive emails sent to a female subordinate. The alleged misconduct does not appear to involve a breach of Obama’s security.
The paper reports that two senior supervisors at the agency, Ignacio Zamora, Jr., and Timothy Barraclough, were found to have sent sexually suggestive emails to a female subordinate. The emails came to light as part of an investigation into an incident in May in which Zamora was found attempting to force his way into a woman’s room at the Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington to retrieve a bullet from his service weapon.
Zamora has been pulled from his position as a shift supervisor for the president’s protective division, while Barraclough has been moved to a separate part of the division.
Why doesn’t the Left trust the law-abiding poor to own guns? That question leapt to mind after reading a recent piece in Nonprofit Quarterly by my friend Rick Cohen, who hails from the Left and, on other issues, has long demanded respect for the denizens of poor neighborhoods.
His article rightly scoffed at officials at a public school in North Carolina who had the brilliant idea of providing their sixth-graders with an “enrichment exercise” that consisted of sending a man in a ski mask into classrooms with a toy gun and pretending to rob the kids.
Rick repeated a crack by the website Progressive Populist that it’s a good thing no teacher pulled out a concealed weapon to shoot the fake bad guy. That could have happened “if the National Rifle Association has its way,” because those crazies at the NRA published a report this year “calling for arming and training teachers and other school personnel.”
Rick’s sneer brought another question to mind. Why does the Left, usually so skeptical about cops and the military, trust them to have all the guns?
Does Rick not realize that, historically, American gun control laws largely targeted“ blacks in the south and the foreign-born in the north,” including Rick’s own Jewish forebears? The state of North Carolina, which draws Rick’s attention today, declared in 1840 that no
free negro, mulatto, or free person of color, shall wear or carry about his or her person, or keep in his or her house, any shot gun, musket, rifle, pistol, sword, dagger or bowie-knife, unless he or she shall have obtained a license therefor from the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of his or her county

When President Barack Obama goes on holiday to the seaside things can get complicated.
By Nick Allen
Rooms have to be found for dozens of Secret Service agents, someone has to carry a selection of presidential basketballs, and of course the family dog needs his own state-of-the-art aircraft.
Arriving in the idyllic coastal retreat of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts, Mr Obama left behind him in Washington DC high profile debates over the budget, government surveillance and his health care reforms. Instead, he will spend the next eight days playing golf, going to the beach, and buying books from the Bunch of Grapes bookstore.
In the air he swapped his suit and tie for khakis and a blue shirt with rolled-up sleeves, while Mrs Obama wore a yellow-and-white summer dress.
Bo, the president’s Portuguese Water Dog, arrived separately on one of two MV-22 Ospreys, a hybrid aircraft which takes off like a helicopter but flies like a plane.
It was the first time the Ospreys have been taken on holiday by a US president.
